First Nephi 5:10

And after they had given thanks unto the God of Israel, my father, Lehi, took the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass, and he did search them from the beginning.

Despite their grumbling and murmuring, Laman and Lemuel helped Nephi acquire the brass plates of precious scripture. I wonder if the two brothers ever even looked at the plates they risked their lives to get. They showed no evidence of knowing anything about their contents. Having the scriptures is one thing, reading them is another. Dusty scriptures on a shelf are as useless as a bag of sand.
