3 Nephi 17:10

And they did all, both they who had been healed and they who were whole, bow down at his feet, and did worship him; and as many as could come for the multitude did kiss his feet, insomuch that they did bathe his feet with their tears.

Healing applies not just to the one afflicted but to those who have love and care for him. Illness, afflictions, trials and hardships affect everyone. The caregiver may be under as much bondage as the person for whom she cares. The healing of one can free a whole family. Recall the man who brought his possessed son to Jesus. His plea was, "Lord, help us." Both the Father and the son needed Jesus's help. And Jesus healed and helped them both. Our prayers on behalf of those we love are always heard.

3 Nephi 17:9

And it came to pass that when he had thus spoken, all the multitude, with one accord, did go forth with their sick and their afflicted, and their lame, and with their blind, and with their dumb, and with all them that were afflicted in any manner; and he did heal them every one as they were brought forth unto him.

I love this phrase. Christ healed every single person who came to him for help. He turned no one away. He did not judge their worthiness, nor did he question their motive. He did not consider how their affliction came upon them. He did not say to any, "Sorry, but you need to suffer longer. It's not your time yet." He healed them all.

And so Christ will heal every single one of us -- physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually -- when he come to him in faith.

3 Nephi 9:13

O all ye that are spared because ye were more righteous than they, will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you?

With repentance and conversion comes spiritual healing. Christ can heal our pains and sorrows. He can heal the damage we have done to ourselves and to others and the damage that others have done to us. He can heal it all because he understands it all because he has suffered it all.

Alma 33:11

And thou didst hear me because of mine afflictions and my sincerity; and it is because of thy Son that thou hast been thus merciful unto me, therefore I will cry unto thee in all mine afflictions, for in thee is my joy; for thou hast turned thy judgments away from me, because of thy Son.

Christ is the Redeemer and the Healer. He intercedes with the Father on our behalf. He paid the price not only to heal us from our sins, but also to heal our relationship with our Father.

Enos 1:8

And he said unto me: Because of thy faith in Christ, whom thou hast never before heard nor seen. And many years pass away before he shall manifest himself in the flesh; wherefore, go to, thy faith hath made thee whole.

Faith in Christ, manifested by sincere and humble repentance, heals us. Not our works, not our callings, not our service, not our tithing, not our knowledge, and not our obedience. All are flawed. Only Christ is perfect. We cannot work enough, serve enough, pay enough, sacrifice enough, learn enough, or obey enough to earn our way into heaven. Not that working, serving, sacrificing, paying learning and obeying are not essential. They are simply not enough. They help change us and shape us. But only Jesus Christ, through his atonement, can make us fit for the kingdom of God. Only He can heal all the wounds others inflict on us, we inflict on others, and we inflict on ourselves. Only when we are healed are we fit to be in the Father's presence. He does not want us full of sores, He wants us perfect. Christ can make us perfect.

Jacob 2:8

And it supposeth me that they have come up hither to hear the pleasing word of God, yea, the word which healeth the wounded soul.

No wound of the soul is so deep that the Word of God, who is Christ, cannot heal it. He heals completely, fully, and without leaving a scar. Because we are wounded daily in this life, let's make room for God's word every day so that we can be healed.
