Mosiah 21:14
And they did humble themselves even in the depths of humility; and they did cry mightily to God; yea, even all the day long did they cry unto their God that he would deliver them out of their afflictions.
Even when we repent, God often allows the consequences of our sins to run their natural course, not as a punishment, but as a lesson and motivation to be humble, submissive, and obedient. When we escape too easily, we fail to appreciate the great benefit God offers us through the atonement.
