Now it came to pass that I, Nephi, having been afflicted with my brethren because of the loss of my bow, and their bows having lost their springs, it began to be exceedingly difficult, yea, insomuch that we could obtain no food.
Nephi is in the same boat as the rest of the family. He acknowledges that things are bad, but he doesn't blame God or others. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. Life is not always fair. Nephi is nevertheless accountable. He owns his situation, regardless of how he got where he is, and he is preparing to do something about it.
