Second Nephi 26:20

And the Gentiles are lifted up in the pride of their eyes, and have stumbled, because of the greatness of their stumbling block, that they have built up many churches; nevertheless, they put down the power and miracles of God, and preach up unto themselves their own wisdom and their own learning, that they may get gain and grind upon the face of the poor.

Nephi saw our day clearly. The Gentiles of whom he speaks are the European Christians and their descendants in the Americas. Nephi saw the Book of Mormon come forth among them when they are at the height of confusion and apostasy. He saw many churches, yet none acknowledge the power of God. They teach the philosophy of men, mingled with scripture, for they deny revelation. Nevertheless, God speaks today. He speaks to prophets and to individuals. He offers powerful miracles. He yearns for us to draw close to him so he can draw close to us.
